A child begins as a Syllable Scout and ends, a thousand mastered words later, as Lexicographer Supreme. Every rank is earned, and a word only counts as mastered once it has been answered correctly three times, in three different formats.
Not a spreadsheet of scores. Two things no register, no MIS and no mark book can tell them: how far apart their class has stretched, and exactly which words to put on the board.
Each line runs from the child furthest back to the child furthest ahead. The solid middle is where most of the class lives; the dot is the median child. A short line means they are moving together. A long one means some are flying and some are waiting — and that is a different lesson. Click a class to see its words.
The words this class is still working on, most-shared first. Put these on the board. Everything below is drawn from what the children have actually answered — not a guess about what Year 6 finds hard.
